Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is such a great event in our family.  We are looking forward to a day of yummy food, relaxing, playing games, and of course, playing with puppies!  Right now they are just over 4 weeks old so they're still a little wobbly on their feet but are always working on new moves.  We get tons of laughs watching them play and explore new sights, sounds, and textures.

Guardian Family needed

The puppy training process that we use:
1. Show the treat
2. Say come
3. Take a few quick steps backwards
4. Say sit and gently push the puppy into sitting position
5. Give the treat

We have had lots of experience training very young puppies and have figured out a few steps to quickly and easily train them to "come" and "sit" at the same time.  We start as soon as the puppies are old enough to play outside to get them to follow us.  This comes pretty naturally to puppies so we just encourage that following behavior by jogging around and letting them follow us.  Then when they are ready, around 6-7weeks, we turn their natural instinct to follow into "come".  They are very quick at this and can already come with distractions.

Teaching a puppy to "sit" is a little tricky when they are this young because it is not very natural and they have a very short attention span.  That's why we combine the "come" and "sit" commands.  When the puppy is running towards the trainer, he is paying attention to his hands and can see the "sit" command.  The best part is that it will be natural for the puppy to sit when told to come instead of jumping up on the trainer.

I know that there are many other training methods so I encourage any new puppy owner to read a few books or watch a few videos and decide which method is the most natural for them and their dog.  I recommend at least 5-10 minutes of training time 2-3 times a day on top of crate training and house training.  It's a lot of work but well worth it!

Outside Playtime

Our Australian Labradoodle puppies are finally old enough to go outside and really play and explore. They are getting something that has a new sight sound and texture everyday in their play area.  This helps them to know how to cope around new people and new places when they are older.  They have been getting used to lapping up a little puppy formula for the last few days.  Their mom is still feeding them but 10 hungry mouths are hard for her to keep up with.  Soon they'll be getting their sharp little teeth and we'll start them on a formula and puppy food mash.  Just a few more weeks and we'll be able to do a personality test to help us place our puppies with the right families.

Angelina is having puppies August 2015!!!

I am so excited to announce that our Angelina is expecting a litter the beginning of August 2015!  My boys and I love summer litters.  We get to play outside with the puppies and watch them explore the yard in the nice weather.  Then the puppies come inside for some down time with their mom.  It's been a long time since we have had puppies here and we are looking forward to the chaos!

Angelina and Dexter's previous litter was born November 1, 2014 and you can see pictures of them on our Previous Litters tab.  I warn you though, you WILL fall in love with them!  Once you have thoroughly and completely fallen for these little cuties, fill out our puppy application on our Application Process tab and send it to me.  When your application is approved, you can make a deposit to get on our wait list for one of Angelina's babies.  Feel free to email or call anytime with questions.  I always to love to talk about our doodles!  208-241-3523

I just want to give a great big THANK-YOU to all of you who have puppies from us and have sent photos and stories about your great dogs!  We sure put a lot of time into socializing, training, and cuddling our puppies so it's been nice to hear from you that it's all worth it.  We have 6 puppies in this litter that are going home to the friends and family of people who have bought puppies from us in the past. Thanks for all of your referrals!!!  We still have 2 spots left on our reservation list for Christmas puppies.  The puppies are now 7 weeks old.

Happy 4th of July!

I know that the 4th of July is not until next weekend but we have been celebrating already.  We are so lucky to live near Rigby lake where we spent the evening last night relaxing with our family and then a great day was finished off with an awesome firework display.  We are looking forward to another weekend of fireworks, parades, and yummy food on the "real" 4th of July.  There is nothing better than that!  Except playing with puppies, of course!  We love that we can have these sweet little puppies around but they are ready to bond with their new families.  They were born April 17, 2014 and are all doing so great with their training.  Every one of our puppies learned to sit really fast!  They are all very intuitive and really willing to do whatever it takes to make the humans happy.  

This adorable girl is Creamer. Her coat is an amazing white and cream
 that has loose wavy curls. We have other puppies available as well so

8 Weeks old

The puppies from our Beauty and Dexter are now 8 weeks old and so sweet!  They are learning everything really fast now.  They understand that they are supposed to keep their inside space clean and go through the doggy door to go potty.  This makes house training much easier!  We have been working with them on a leash and they are catching on quickly.  Every one who meets these puppies remarks at how much they love to cuddle when you hold them.  They just snuggle in and fall asleep. They are still learning a lot from their mom who teaches them who's boss but loves to play with them and cuddle with them at naptime.  We are so happy with how smart every puppy from this litter is and are sad that some of them will be going home. Having a fabulous weekend!

Beauty and Dexter's puppies are now 5 weeks old and loving the warm weather.  They all have the doggy door figured out so they go outside when they need to go potty and can go back inside to get a nap after some serious playtime.  The are all so smart and funny!

AMAZING PUPPIES!!!

Our puppies are  now 4 weeks old.  They were born April 17, 2014 and will be ready for their new homes June 19th.  They will be up to date on shots, microchipped, spayed/neutered, doggy door trained, and beginning leash trained.  The markings on these puppies are so amazing!  They are actually getting more cute every day! They are just at the age where they are learning to play with each other but then they fall over a lot.  It's endless entertainment!  Our family loves having puppies around and we spend all of our extra time playing with them and training them.  They are doing pretty well at going in their "potty spot" right now and when they are a little more coordinated, we'll start teaching them to go through the doggy door to go potty outside.  The weather is finally nice now so we've started to let them outside to explore and play.

Beauty and Dexter Litter

Our new puppies are finally here!  We have been so excited for this litter and they certainly have not disappointed us.  These puppies have the most adorable markings that we have ever seen!  We expect these pups to be smart and eager to please just like their mom and dad.  They are certainly going to be spoiled around here by my family and have already had lots of hugs from my sometimes over eager 5 year old son.  We love having puppies at our house and it's even more fun when the weather is nice out and we can socialize the pups in the backyard.  These pups will be doggy door trained, just like all of the pups we raise, before they go home at 9 weeks.  

Naming the puppies is one of my favorite things to do after the pups are born.  It's fun to get to know their personalities and match up names for them.  Of course my 5 year old already has all of the pups named but we'll post their names as soon as the rest of the family can agree.  So far, "Mr. Funny" is on the list.

Betsy is looking for a guardian family

*Update: We have found a guardian home for Betsy and she is no longer available but please contact us if you are interested in a future guardian puppy.
We are looking for a suitable guardian for our lovable Betsy.  Being a guardian for our sweet doodle is a great way to get a top quality Australian Labradoodle for your family pet. Betsy has had the proper socialization and stimulation that comes from living in a loving home.  She is house trained and crate trained.  She absolutely loves kids, is very gentle, and obeys many commands such as sit, stay, leave it, come, and many more.

Being a guardian for Betsy means that she would be in your home forever but Taylor Mountain would retain the breeding rights.  This means that she will be your family pet and will stay with you.  TM pays for all of the health testing relating to breeding and all breeding expenses.  We can work out the logistics when it gets close to breeding time but she would stay with her family during her pregnancy and stay here with us at TM for delivery and whelping of the puppies which is typically 6-8 weeks.  Then she would return home to her guardian family. She can have as few as 2 litters or as many as 4, depending on her family and health. Once she is finished breeding, TM will pay for her to be spayed.  

There are many advantages to being a guardian family for Betsy.  First, anytime you leave town I would be happy to puppysit for you while you are gone. Second, it is a much less expensive way for you to have a true Australian Labradoodle that is the pick of the litter.  The price of being a guardian family for our sweet Betsy is the standard pet price of $2100 and that will be recouped once she has completed her breeding obligations.
