7 Weeks old and can already sit!

The puppies are now 7 weeks old and are learning how to behave from their mom and "aunt" Angelina.   This week I'm working with each pup individually each day so that they understand basic commands like come and sit. They are so amazing to be learning to sit at this young of an age but they are all incredibly smart and especially intuitive. They love to be talked to and have their ears rubbed when they do something good.

UPDATE: The pup in this video is now sold but we have other amazing puppies available.  They are going fast so please contact me at (208)241-3523 if you would like to reserve one of our other puppies.  Thank you!

Playtime!

The puppies are loving playtime in the gorgeous fall weather we are having here.  I have to admit that I spend as much time as I can outside on days like today and it's even more enjoyable with 6 week old puppies to play with.  I love this puppy stage because they are running, playing, chewing, and exploring.  They are getting some beginning training from me but are still learning a lot from their mom.  She lets them know what is acceptable and keeps a close eye on them.  She is still nursing them a couple of times a day but that will probably be done by the end of the week because they have new little SHARP TEETH. Ouch! They have been eating softened puppy food for a while now but they tried out some dry puppy food today and just loved it.  I think it feels good on their gums.  We have more videos to share with you as soon as I can stay inside on my laptop long enough to get them edited and uploaded!

6 weeks

I am working with the pups on crate training this week.  This is an important part of getting them ready to transition to their new homes.  I put each pup by themselves in a "crate" which is really just a laundry basket lined with papers or old towels.  I have only 2 or three pups out at a time so I can keep a close eye on them so they are not even having accidents in their crate...so far. This is very time consuming but well worth it in the end.  They are much more calm and ready to sleep through the night when they go home.
I have also been working on training them to go in a "potty box" and keep their bed clean.  They are doing extremely well and they often run over to their potty box when they are outside playing.  I will continue to work on this until they are all sleeping through the night without accidents or too much crying.
Banner is doing so well all by himself!  He even took a nap and cried when he woke up because he had to go potty.  When I took him outside, he peed right away.  What an amazing pup!

4 weeks

The puppies are now 4 weeks old and interested in everything.  We give them something new to explore every day.  It's either a new toy, carpet to walk on, shredded paper, or anything else that is either noisy or a new texture that will help them learn and grow.  They are all learning to go potty in their "potty box"  which is really just a rubbermaid box turned upside down with a "door" cut into it.  They go inside to go potty and keep the rest of their box clean to sleep, eat and play in.  I'm very impressed with how quickly they have learned this!  We will be expanding their play area next week so they can have more room to wrestle.

My two boys love puppy photo day!  They are my assistants and their job is get the puppies to look at the camera.  It is so interesting to see the puppies eyes follow my kids everywhere they go. Even at only 4 weeks old the puppies know that kids are the most fun.
